Supportive Breathing Mode

It can get quite difficult and uncomfortable for patients to breathe against the force of a ventilator. That’s why we’ve built in a breath detection circuit that can synchronize to a patient’s respiratory drive. When they try to inhale, we detect a drop in the pressure, triggering the device to begin the delivery of air. Supportive breathing makes this device much more comfortable to patients who are conscious. Here’s a quick demo of one of our engineers using the device in supportive breathing mode. It delivers air when he breathes in. However, the device also works for patients who lack respiratory drive. In this case, after a user-set time limit, the machine ventilates automatically.
