A ventilator as strong as steel

The whole team has been working day and night to turn around a strong, durable, stainless steel ventilator. Here are some pictures directly from our engineer’s workbench. We set an ambitious goal to begin delivering test models next week. It’s been extremely challenging, but we are all working at 110% to get these to hospitals as soon as possible.

Engineering a device that can scale to large production quantities is not an easy task. Due to social distancing, it is much harder to acquire parts, but we have streamlined the design. All parts are now sourced from large manufacturers that can ship overnight.

Additionally, we are learning a lot about working remotely. Thanks to a variety of applications, we are able to streamline our production process without getting together. We use programs like Teamviewer, which allows for remote debugging when the software engineer needs to modify code running on the hardware engineer’s computer. It’s pretty amazing to us how we’ve managed to stay collaborative and dynamic while minimizing our in-person interactions.

Here is a shot of one of our recent calls. One of the engineers is showing off a freshly fabricated leg of the new ventilator design to the team. We have gotten good at working remotely over the past week and a half, and in just a couple more days expect to get to the next level.
